Sunday brunch at Disney Inventions

I had been looking forward to coming to Inventions ever since I saw a couple of Disney regulars say that it is the best buffet out of all the Disney restaurants.  BIG CALL!!! Imagine my delight when our Paris Disney visit coincided with their Sunday brunch,  which is the fanciest (and priciest) of all the buffets.  The Sunday brunch also has a different theme each week and Disney characters are in attendance. Our week’s theme was quite generic and broad, so much so, I can’t remember what it was.  We knew we would be visited by Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Chip, Dale, Duffy (who IS Duffy??) But anyway, let’s get to the food! First of all, the service was impeccable.  We were catered to so well by our amazing waitress, who never hovered, but knew when we needed anything and just brought it over.  The only thing I was a little confused about was if we needed to get a new plate each time we went back to the buffet.  I assumed that we should, so I got one each time. So, to the food!  Make sure you check out the photos I posted to get an idea if this place is up your alley. There were 4 sections: one for entrées: IMG_7731.JPG c b aa a one for seafood: d e f one section with 12 hearty dishes (at least 3 of these dishes catering to vegetarians) as well as including a roasts carvery: g h and finally a massive dessert section: 4 1 2           z My goal was to taste a nibble of every dish.  I nearly got there!  A tip: do not forget that you are in France, the capital of great sauces.  There are large jugs of sauces of every type set out across the buffet ready to make the dishes even more delicious. My favourite taste sensations were at the last two sections I mentioned.  The hearty dishes were seasoned beautifully, with rich piquant sauces each so unique in flavour.  The fish in the seafood casserole was so tender. just cooked through.  The pork and lamb casseroles in their fragrant gravies made me wish I could fit more in my belly. The desserts…  The lemon tart was fantastic!  The cone shaped vials of dessert are amazing, even though they look a little generic for a buffet.  Try them!  I wish I could remember what they were, but they were delicious! Nearly too late, I noticed the pots of dessert sauce.  The chocolate sauce was divine!  I had a couple pieces of fruit also.  The star fruit was a little disappointing and I wasn’t a massive fan of the pancakes either.  I was really sad and a little surprised not to see my very favourite: Mickey waffles.  🙁 But it was a fabulous brunch.  We stayed nearly the entire 2 hour sitting, pacing ourselves.  The generous centrepiece of breads at our table was complimentary and I really wanted to put it all in my purse and take it home, because who wants to eat bread, even French bread, when there is an all-you-can-eat-buffet going on?!! My only gripe was that I was not aware that drinks are not complimentary at the Sunday brunch.  The orange drink is complimentary, I believe as is a glass of wine ( I don’t drink).  We were happily ordering sodas after seeing that one of the American Disney menu sites mentioned that all drinks were complimentary.  Drinks ARE complimentary at the Inventions buffet, just not on Sundays!  Eeeeks! Hence, the bill was a massive shock, given that we had ordered several sodas.  The waitress felt terrible, but it had just been an assumption on my part. Oh, I nearly forgot to mention the characters!  A different character came around every few minutes and spent ample time visiting with each table, posing for photos, teasing and signing autographs.  We love character dining. IMG_7796.JPG IMG_7771.JPG IMG_7805-0.JPG IMG_7749.JPG IMG_7760.JPG Is the Inventions Sunday Brunch worth the expense?  If it is one person paying for the group like I was, it is a big hit to the wallet; not going to lie.  But for a once-in-a-lifetime experience with the family- tasting delicious food in arguably the best Disney buffet surrounded by Disney characters, YES!

I love a good buffet!! The spread looked amazing but terrible about the sodas! Hopefully the Disney character cuddles made up for it! 🙂

It was a pretty rough moment as the budget was already tight, Eileen. Those Disney Characters- I just love them. 🙂
